It's late and I'm tired--we're leaving on a family trip tomorrow--but I wanted to post something today--and I knew what it needed to be!
Yesterday's stamp set was about books. As a librarian, this warms my heart! I knew that I needed to make a bookmark with it.
Of course I have a number of book-related stamp sets. Earlier in my daily stamp project, I'd used another set and wanted it to be a bookmark--but I had NO bookmark dies. That day I ended up just measuring the dimensions of a bookmark I had at home and then cutting cardstock that size.
I also went shopping online and discovered a new-to-me shop: Scrappy Boy Stamps. I got the bookmark die set and some other things as well.
Now that I had a bookmark die (actually, 2 are in the set), I was ready to use it when I pulled out this stamp set.
The finished bookmark
The way the mischievous animals peeked out--it just HAD to be a bookmark!
I didn't originally plan to use a topper with the bookmark, but since I was going to put ribbon in the hole, I felt a topper would help provide stability. I die cut the topper twice, and put one each on front and back of the bookmark.
I already see reindeer Christmas bookmarks in my future cardmaking!
Since the bookmark was plain white, I decided to use a blender brush and light pink ink for the topper. The images were colored with alcohol markers--and one "regular" brush marker. Then I added a ribbon from my stash (it's an old retired one from Stampin' Up!).
I will laminate the bookmark (sans ribbon) to make it sturdier. Right now I'm just so pleased with the bookmark that I'm keeping it right at my crafting table. It makes me happy every time I see it!
For those that like a complete view, here's a photo of all of the materials I used to make the bookmark:
Wow-I ended up using a lot of things!
I hope that you are having a great day. Keep cool on these HOT days!
